NMC Technology Outlook: STEM+ Education 2012-2017

An NMC Horizon Report Regional Analysis

Welcome to the workspace for the 2012 Horizon.stem Project. This space was the place for the members of the Horizon.stem Advisory Board to manage the process of researching, discussing, and ultimately, selecting the topics for the NMC Technology Outlook: STEM+ Education 2012-2017. The annual STEM-focused report, which summarizes the qualitative research that will be conducted on this wiki, and the Horizon Project as a whole is led by the The New Media Consortium. The STEM+ project is being conducted in collaboration with the Centro Superior para la Enseñanza Virtual (CSEV), and Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica, Electrónica y Control at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Education Society (IEEE Educational Society).

The report was published in September 2012, and focused on emerging technology and its applications to STEM+ education. This is the first year of publication for this particular report. (For a similar example, see the Technology Outlook for Australian Tertiary Education 2012-2017).

Horizon.stem is a project that applies the process developed for the New Media Consortium's Horizon Project to the identification of trends and challenges relevant to elementary and secondary learning institutions, and to clarifying key emerging technologies that are sure to impact the sector. Members of the STEM and STEM+ education communities worldwide are encouraged to follow the Advisory Board's progress as the discussion unfolds and to use the wiki as a resource and reference tool.

The research effort behind Horizon.stem is made possible through the generous support of the Centro Superior para la Enseñanza Virtual (CSEV).
